About Powell Medical – Hair Transplant Center in Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale FL
Richard Powell, MD, FACEP, was born and raised in Long Island, NY. He received his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital, followed by a three-year Emergency Medicine residency at Long Island Jewish, where he served as chief resident during his last year of training. Dr. Powell is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
He has been practicing emergency medicine for the past 16 years, the first several of which were in New York before moving to southeast Florida. During this period, he also successfully pursued an MBA degree and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies for this postgraduate work.
Possessing a fine eye for detail and meticulous nature, he has always been interested in aesthetic medicine. After experiencing the impacts of hair loss firsthand, Dr. Powell underwent a hair transplant procedure himself. Since his surgery, he developed a passion for and later pursued a career in hair restoration. After extensive training and learning the latest, most effective techniques in this discipline, he joined in partnership with Dr. Alan Feller and Dr. Blake Bloxham, opening a practice currently located in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Dr. Powell specializes in FUT (strip) mega-sessions (one of only a few clinics in Florida capable of performing this procedure), manual FUE, and modified techniques. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
